1. By: Jay Yencich on 04-05-2011 14:50:58 I think the roster they have on the Generals site is more or less accurate http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=t_ros&cid=104&stn=true&sid=t104 The Jackson Sun is already running with it as though it is.
2. By: eknpdx on 04-05-2011 14:51:28 I assume Raben is at 1B/DH. Just your opion JAC, what does Franklin have to do in High desert to be promoted to AA?
3. By: dawgncarolina on 04-05-2011 14:53:05 Pryor is interesting but on the DL. Medina is mildly intriguing. But outside of them, there's not much at all in the way of pitching talent to get excited about down here. I wonder if that's more a sign of the lack of organizational depth at the position or the High Desert effect causing the org to avoid the Mavs with their legit pitching 'spects. Probably a combination. The bats are certainly more inspiring. Raben, Franklin and Jones could put up huge numbers. Almonte, Sams and Carroll will get a chance to become the new Juan Silvestre's and trick people into thinking they have a shot. And perhaps Martinez and Noriega can revive their once promising careers. Not a bad group. I'm somewhat surprised that Franklin is starting here, but hopefully that won't last too long. I'd hate to see him develop bad habits.
4. By: Jason A. Churchill on 04-05-2011 14:57:30 Except that roster has 32 players on it, Jay. I'm 99% sure the roster will consist of players on that page, but a few are DL candidates (Fields) and a few might be left behind in XST. ek, Franklin has to show a consistently above-average hit tool. Home runs don't help his cause.
5. By: Jay Yencich on 04-05-2011 15:10:34 Thirty-two players, eight of which are on the DL.
6. By: short on 04-05-2011 15:26:18 Is James Paxton likely to end up in Jackson to start the year?
7. By: Jason A. Churchill on 04-05-2011 15:34:05 short, not likely. He's not on a roster, from what I am told. we know for fact he isn't on AA, A+ or A, and he's not on the prelim AA roster, either. Needs more time to build arm strength.
8. By: eknpdx on 04-05-2011 16:19:05 Did I miss an injury or something with Choi? It would make sense he was held back to work on his catchig skills.
9. By: slamcactus on 04-05-2011 17:57:50 Choi played 11 games in the Cal league last year. It's not like he's getting held back. This is where he was always slated to start, and it's a pretty aggressive assignment for him.
10. By: Lonnie on 04-05-2011 18:04:34 Jason, I put this already in one response, but I'll do it here too because it is very intriguing. Mike Curto calls out four of the Tacoma starters, and states that the fifth starter won't be known until the day of the fifth game. He also stated that the starter isn't even with the team right now. What's up wit dat? Lonnie
11. By: Jason A. Churchill on 04-05-2011 23:23:26 Because it could be someone on another MILB roster, or in extended spring training -- or with the M's. Their fifth game is on, what, April 11, which means the club could have both Gutierrez and Aardsma back by then and could send out Rodriguez and an arm such as Pauley.
12. By: Merrill on 04-06-2011 07:25:53 Stone reports the mystery fifth Tacoma starter to be Fabio Castro, getting stretched out in extended ST.
13. By: bumkus on 04-07-2011 13:25:53 Would be very interesting if the mystery starter turned out to be Paxton. Matt
