Prospect Insider - Lets Help Cole
Lets Help Cole

By Jason A. ChurchillBy 02-14-2011

If you were one of billions that caught Elise Woodward's show on Friday night between 8:40 PM and 9:25 PM, you heard me open the first segment by asking all of the listeners to join Prospect Insider in helping about a 5-year old boy named Cole.

Cole lives in the Bay Area and he and his parents are close friends and neighbors of one Joe Kaiser and his family. Kaiser, founder and publisher at InsidethePark.com years ago in this here blogosphere, has done wonders for Prospect Insider and yours truly, both on and off the pages of this site.

Cole has what is called stage 4 neuroblastoma, a form of cancer. Cole began chemotherapy this past Friday, part of medical treatments that will likely cost the family more than $30,000 per year.

Thirty thousand dollars.

Click here to read Cole's story, as written by his family.

Well, we can't let this go without doing our best to help. So head on over to Cole's website and make a donation. Even 5-10 bucks helps, and you can even choose to make such smaller donations, automated on a monthly basis.

For those that would like to donate $50 or more, I will put you on the Forever Subscriber list and you will get the 2011 Prospect Insider Handbook and the Mid-season Prospect Report for FREE.

To make such a donation Click Here.

Once you're donation goes through, please send me your Prospect Insider username, and the email address you use for Amazon so I can add you to the list.

At the end of each day, Prospect Insider will take the donations from its readers and make one lump sum donation directly to Cole via his web site.

You guys have always come through; helping redesign the site, helping to send me to the AFL two years ago, and you all really stepped up when we raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society two summers ago. I couldn't be more proud of what this community can do.

Even if all you can donate is $5, please do so. Cole's battle is of the uphill variety, and the last thing his parents need to worry about right now is how they keep their house while paying medical bills that go far beyond any medical coverage.

Thank you to everyone, this means a great deal to me that the readership here is full of caring people willing to sacrifice for others whenever possible.

Poor kid...5 years old, and cancer is part of his life. No kid that age should have to face a situation with that much gravity.

I make my living working with K-6th grade kids. We have suffered through more cancer in children the last few years than anyone should have to in three lifetimes, including 3 cases of nueroblastoma. I agree...contribute. Anything you can.

I've been a cancer survivor for over eight years now, it can be beat. I was always amazed by the courage of my fellow patients, particularly the younger ones. Thanks for allowing me to help.

Longtime lurker.. Never felt motivated to go beyond that.. but after 20 years as a little league and babe ruth coach, I just felt it is to cool that you are putting yourself out there for this cause. So I signed up and fired off the 50$.. Well done on you, for going beyond... and glad I could help out a little... Probably never hear from me again.. unless something like this pops up again!

First off, thanks to Churchill for his efforts to spread the word about Cole. When I told him about it, there was no questions asked - he was committed to helping, and that's amazing. So thanks! Secondly, thanks to the rest of you who have donated, thought about donated or simply read up on Cole. It's great appreciated by he and his family.

A quick story about Cole... one of the first times I met him, he tried to sell me a rock. When I started to hesitate, the five year old could sense a potential lost sale and quickly sweetened the offer by throwing in a second rock for free. Needless to say, I left with two rocks and he left with my dollar.

Thanks again, everyone.

Joe
