Comments aren't broken fellas, we had to make an adjustment to the most recent post, which deleted the previous comments.

Bring your friends! I'd like to break a non-draft time record for questions answered.

'which deleted previous comments'

that's too bad, I was playing count Edman's contradictory comments. One of my recent faves is, no one would want to trade for Aardsma, they can just get him off the street. And then, trade Aardsma? Closers are so hard to come by, that's why teams pay through the roof for them.

5.  By: Edman on 12-22-2010 20:45:09
Pat, there is nothing contradictory when you quote me correctly. I said, why would teams trade for a guy when there is a surplus of them in the free agent market. At the time, there was. And, at that time, there weren't a lot of relievers that had signed.

Nobody expected teams to overpay for relievers.

If you're gonna quote me, keep it on context.

Can everybody do me a favor and wang-chung tonight? It's Christmas Eve Eve Eve. Be nice.

It's been a while since you've done one of these. Really looking forward to it.

Must be having a problem with my browser or something. I comment, and it doesn't ever stop "loading"! LOL

My question is about Erasmo Ramirez. He has put up some great numbers so far. How does he project, and when might we see him in Seattle?

"If you're gonna quote me, keep it on context."

Says the guy that more people have said "show me where i said that" than I can count on my digits. And for the record, I never quoted you..so there's that. But, from the beginning of the off season you said no one would want to trade for Aardsma, when they could just sign one of the many, many relievers out there. Others said, yeah, but relievers that have done what he has done, would cost more than his ~$4.5 mil on the open market, and that inherently has value. You disagreed. Then a crap ton of relievers signed for three year deals. Then it was suggested that Aardsma has a skill set that can be replaced. Now its, no one would trade for AArdsma when they can get that off the street(and yeah I know some other Fa's such as Scott Downs have already signed, but if you ever thought AArdsma=Downs, well then thats a whole other issue), but we shouldn't trade Aardsma, because closers are difficult to come by.

The gist is relievers like AArdsma can't be easy to come by and difficult to replace... thats, say it with me.. contradictory.

Sorry, CAN be easy to come by, but difficult to replace

Jason,

Rumor tonight is that the Yanks are in pursuit of Johnny Damon again which would give them 3 lefty hitters for their outfield, and DOESN'T make sense unless they are planning on moving Granderson.

Z was after Granderson last offseason, before Yanks swooped in and nabbed him from Detroit via trade. But, Yankee fans don't like that he can't hit Lefties and they are paying $8.2M this year and $10M next. Plus, with Mariano's Health issues the past few years, I would think the Yanks would like Aardsma.

If the Yanks pickup Damon again, can you see a Granderson trade to Seattle for Aardsma and a little cash?! That would give Yanks a little salary relief, and give the M's that "impact bat".

I can truly see this trade coming if Damon is back with the Yanks.

Thoughts?!

Pat, I'm not getting into it, because evidently you blew by Chris' request.

DRWheelock-

Boy, Granderson in a Mariner uniform. His game has holes, but he'd be a nice piece in a lot of ways.

Just my own .02 here, as always I'll defer to the PI crew...but my thought is that the $8.2 MM Granderson gets this year doesn't work for us and our budget. Even if we get rid of Aardsma's 4 MM in the deal.

And I have my doubts that only Aardsma would get the trigger pulled on the trade, particularly with the fact that Zduriencik is closer to persona non grata with Yankees people right now than he is welcome company.

Where he said you get to say anything regardless of validity? no i missed that post.

Need the last word, do ya?

Has anyone signed Micah Owings for 2011? I'm intrigued by him as a Brooks Kieschnick type player. DH and PH, and reliever. Didn't Jack run player personnel in Milwaukee during the Brooks Kieschnick era??

Here may be a better question with the Yankees rotation problems. Does Vargas, Aardsma and Halman get you Granderson? If the Yankees sign Damon that looks like a deal that fits all around. And I don't think the Yankee fans have a problem with Granderson in so much as they have a problem with a guy like Granderson hitting second which is where Damon slots in perfectly.

18.  By: DRWheelock on 12-23-2010 10:13:17
I've just heard a TON of negative comments from Yankee land regarding his hitting LHP issues. Thus, I can't see them talking to Damon UNLESS they are willing to move Granderson.

2011 = $8.2M
2012 = $10M

That's a LOT of money for a platoon guy in Pinstripes. I don't think Seattle would platoon him much, because of this Defense, but with Gutz in CF, Granderson in LF, and Ichiro in RF...that would be the BEST defensive OF in MLB. Also the top 4 of the lineup would look pretty awesome with speed, and I'd see Granderson hitting 3rd after Figgins:

1. Ichiro
2. Figgins
3. Granderson
4. Cust

I don't see Z giving up Vargas in a package, but I can see him throwing Halman and maybe one other prospect Z thinks he won't use soon. This would give the Yanks a few prospects that they horribly lack. AND, I think Yankees would have to throw in a few million for the 2012 salary.

There is NO REASON for a Damon re-signing "if" Cashman plans to keep Granderson. I can't see them moving anyone else. Possibly Swisher, which I'd LOVE in LF too, but they would move Granderson before Swisher (IMHO).

The Yankees (and most responsible teams) don't want Damon playing in the outfield every day. So they won't be trading Granderson. You'll notice that NY has two openings on their bench. Damon would be a 4th OF and part-time DH if Posada can't find a way to stay healthy.

Thanks Gentlemen for making a replay available. Sorry I missed it but enjoyed skimming this morning. Fun to actually think of some possible players that finally might make it to the other side!

Interesting to see Lindstrom go to the Rockies, when they were interested according to rumor to want to add an arm to the bullpen because of Lindstroms inconsistencies.

Jason - You mentioned a month ago that Jack Z was interested in Wandy Rodriguez. MLBTradeRumors mentions that Houston's SP options are deep after many stepped up last year in the 2nd half, and Wandy arbitration price should push Houston to want to trade to Wandy because of payroll concerns of Wandy possibly hitting $7M.

Aardsma for Wandy?!

Thoughts?!

Be curious for others comments DR, but Rockies are very protective of keeping their younger talent. If Z asked for Smith or Stewart, no budging from down here. Like Jason said, it is still December. Lots of time ahead.

Thx again Jason, Chris, and Rick

All the work you guys do is without a doubt the best work on mariner baseball. Here is to all the PI staff and all the mariner fans in all the lands.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
