Spring Training Preview: Game 19

By Jason A. ChurchillBy 03-13-2013

I'm a little late here, but Wednesday's game info is below:

Lineup
Jason Bay, LF
Kyle Seager, 3B
Michael Morse, 1B
Raul Ibanez, DH
Michael Saunders, CF
Kelly Shoppach, C
Carlos Peguero, RF
Robert Andino, SS
Carlos Triunfel, 2B

Pitchers
Hisashi Iwakuma gets the start with Danny Hultzen, Tom Wilhelmsen, Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor and Jhonny Nunez also at the ready.

Minor leaguers Matt Brazis, Dominic Leone and George Mieses are also with the team just in case the right situation arises. Mieses can tough 96 on the radar gun and both Brazis and Leone have potential major league futures. Brazis brings plus control and command to the table.

A week ago we where 10-1 now 11-7 not killing the ball anymore ? What gives Jason have you been down there watching? Is this a 70/80/90 win club in your mind? Im thinking 77-81 i hope more but who knows.

It's a .500 or better roster in terms of talent, but after that is where the leadership, from Wedge to the veterans, has to keep the team performing. That's how they get to 83-85.

Only having three starters playing might have something to do with less offense lately. This team is going to need all nine starters to generate any offense don't you think Jason. Are Loe and Garland the only two that need to be added to the 25 man roster?

We were at the game yesterday, Iwakuma and Hultzen both looked good, the Bartender continues to struggle with with his fast ball command. Ran into Jack Z. (real personable guy)
Told him he needs to hang onto Casper Wells.....so I'm pretty sure Jason Bay will go in favor of Casper ?

The Wells/Bay choice seems like a tough one at this point. I'm pulling for Wells to earn the slot as the team has more years of control with him and he can still get better. If Bay plays at an equal level they may go for the veteran presence and previous productive years. They could keep them both but that something of a long shot.
