Game 1 of the new era begins Friday night at the new Cheney Stadium -- if the weather holds up, anyway -- and I took a walk around to get a look. I didn't take any video of the inside of the clubhouse and coach's offices or training room, for obvious reasons. But I took a little of the field as viewed from inside the home dugout and just outside it.

It's not great video, but it will give you an idea.

But it's a palace, and anyone that can should come take a look this season. And if you're into baseball betting, make a wager on the Tacoma Rainiers being around for several more decades, if not forever, and that the M's maintain their relationship with the R's for many years to come.

The suites are awesome, the general admission seating is sweet and the food is ... to be determined, but I do not recommend the Pizza.

So far, the Chicken Panini Sandwich (Ryan Divish of The News Tribune) has received the best review. The cheeseburger was tested by the TNT's John McGrath and came back with a 45 grade on the 20-80 scouting scale.

But there are dozens of new options -- it will take me half the year to try everything, but I will, so stay tuned.

Tried the Chicken Panini -- I give it a solid 50.

Yup. General Admission berm seating. Should be pretty awesome in the summer.

And I didn't think the Pizza was that bad...at least when compared to Little Cesars.

The Strawberry Shortcake available from the "Sweet Spot" stand, also got a thumbs up from my fiance.

I just move back to the Pacific Northwest finally, and can't WAIT to get to New Cheney Stadium and catch a game. New stadium, new food, Dustin Ackley, this is just the stars aligning, screaming at me to get down to T-Town.

Yes, you can buy seats on the grass hill in foul territory down the right field line for just 7 snaps. 7!

Totally off topic. Two-ish months left on the college schedule. How far has Rendon's stock fallen, if at all? And what would he have to do to re-establish himself the sure-fire #1 pick again? Seems like he's now in 1-2 pick limbo.

Hoping he solidifies himself at #2....

Also off topic...

With the M's bullpen reaching the point where Wedge used Jamie Wright for 2 innings, the team may not have the luxury of waiting for Aardsma to return before having to make a move. Even if Aardsma does make it back shortly, I think Wedge isn't trusting many of his options down there.

Justin Miller would probably get the 1st call, but is Josh Fields putting himself in contention to skip over the AAA relievers and be the guy who might replace Chris Ray or even Tom Wilhemlsen? I'm still not sure that the org wouldn't be best served with Wilhemsen starting in Tacoma as with his fastball he might be the highest upside starter in that rotation.

Of course, swapping out one or two low leverage relievers on a team that is struggling to score 3 runs a game isn't gonna make a whole lot of difference in wins and losses...

Ackley hit a homer off the scoreboard in right Saturday and made a nice play in the field, Fabio pitched a nice rebound game. Ackley made a nice play, and the Rainiers' as a whole didn't seem to take many pitches. That extra light standard added to the stadium brought out the highlights.
