Prospect Insider - West Tennessee Final Roster
West Tennessee Final Roster

By Jason A. ChurchillBy 04-07-2009

Clinton's roster can be found here, by the way. Not one top 15 prospect on that roster after Mario Martinez, which means Dennis Raben joins Saunders on the DL to start the year.

Here's West Tenn's 2009 Opening Day Roster.

Pitchers
Luis Munoz
Josh Fields
Mumba Rivera
Marwin Vega
Justin Souza
Luis Pena
Nick Hill
Patrick Ryan
Robert Rohrbaugh
Kyle Parker
Ricky Orta
Doug Fister
Aaron Cotter
Stephen Kahn (DL)

Hitters
Adam Moore
Yamid Haad
Luis Oloveros (DL)
Javier Brito
Thomas Hubbard
Matt Mangini
Oswaldo Navarro
Carlos Triunfel
Ronnie Prettyman (DL)
Jeff Dominguez
Mel Stocker (DL)
Greg Halman
Brent Johnson
Ezequiel Carrera
Johan Limonta

My Lineup:

1. Johnson, OF/3B
2. Triunfel, 2B/SS
3. Hubbard, 1B
4. Brito, DH
5. Halman, CF
6. Mangini, 3B
7. Moore, C
8. Carrera, OF
9. Navarro, 2B/SS

Navarro is going to school Triunfel like I guessed yesterday, and I love that move.

Rotation:

1. Parker
2. Vega
3. Rohrbaugh
4. Fister
5. Hill

Orta, Rivera and Souza can also start, but profile better in relief.

Pen:

1. Fields
2. Orta
3. Souza
4. Pena
5. Munoz
6. Kahn, eventually
7. Cotter

The D-Jaxx are going to hit some, field some and pitch... not some well, not in the rotation. Parker throws strikes, but with average stuff. Hill is a lefty reliever in the end, and he could start the year in the pen.

But the lineup, love it.

Looks like a trip to West Tenn is in order after all. Damnit.

Is there any reason to read anything into Mario Martinez beating out Jharmidy De Jesus for the 3B job in Clinton? De Jesus seemed much more advanced last year, with more present power. I'm hoping this means Martinez has made a serious jump forward over the offseason.

How badly is Raben hurt?

Pretty badly. He said on his blog there's a chance he'll need more surgery on his knee and he'll miss the season.

Jason, regarding the Clinton roster- is there any chance Almonte eventually becomes a top 15 prospect, IYO? I've never built up a scouting report on him, but frequently hear his name when there's talk about M's minor-leaguers who aren't really prospects yet, but may make the jump to such with a good year/show of definite progress.

What's your thoughts on Almonte?

Martinez is more experienced and has a chance to stay at third.

Raben's knee has the M's thinking about 2010, like slam said.

rocket,

I'd say no. He swings and misses far too often.

Jason,

How much longer do you think Saunders will be out for? I'm assuming he goes back to AAA and starts the year there?

I'm not sure, I don't have any additional information on Saunders. I imagine at some point we'll all find out. The team may make a statement to some extent, too.

Maybe Baker will ask Jack.

Of worse comes to worse, I'll ask about Saunders when Tacoma makes their home debut late next week.

Jason,

I heartily recommend going down to West Tenn, Pringles Park, it is a beauty!

It would seem to me that as thin as the outfield is at Tacoma that Saunders almost has to go there, but that is just me guessing again.

Once fully healthy, yes, Saunders is a Triple-A guy. He may start in Peoria or somewhere warm, but ultimately he needs to be in AAA right now.

Where's Jharmidy? I haven't seen him on any of the rosters.

Not on a full-season roster.

With the Fields signing and the Morrow and Aumont moves to the pen, it appears the organization is trying for the best bullpen of all time :p

Nick Hill gonna be okay as a starter? I always thought of him as a reliever, and his mechanics terrify me.

FYI- Fister is in the bullpen
